Fall Forest on the Long Trail - Vermont & Long Trail
This scene represented much of what I saw on a 40 mile three day section hike of the Long Trail from RT 15 to RT2 in late September. The orange foliage was well developed, but the understory of hobblebush remained green. Mushrooms and the twisted tree highlight the uniqueness of the Vermont forest. This was taken south of Bolton Mountain on my third long, cold day, so I decided to set a large aperture to narrow the depth of focus to just the next rooty step in front of me. This was done to replicate the bleary-eyed tunnel vision I (and many long distance hikers) was experiencing at that point. The white blaze of that marks the Long Trail is visible.
