Spring and Summer Collide - Details on the trail
Three pink lady slippers and a new maple leaf on a sapling have grown simultaneously, naturally pushing against one another. The image conveys the transition between spring and summer in the White Mountain National Forest in early June. The maple don't leaf out until then, and just a week later, the flowers will fall off, making this sight a fleeting one.
