Hawksbill Mountain, Shenandoah National Park

I loved the dramatic weather I experienced this spring visiting Shenandoah National Park. On the second day, the winds were over 40 mph all day and a heavy rain storm moved in just before sunset. The temperature dropped to 36 degrees. A heavy fog also enveloped ridge, so I bundled up and started shooting some twisted trees in that fog. I didn't expect that fog to clear so quickly at sunset. The sky lit up golden, and I raced up the AT back to a viewpoint of Hawksbill near where I was parked. Initially I kicked myself for not being in better position, but I actually ended up liking the way this came out, with the barely budding treetops to communicate the season in this shot.
