3. Loon Chick Growth:

This was finally the chick that hatched at 2 days old, July 21. These parents were making some vocalizations when I was relatively near, so I backed off. I found out the story of the intruder loon (who the parents actually killed) after taking these shots so I decided not to return any more to this location. Though I had been checking on this location every few days to catch the hatch, I feel it was the right decision because clearly this pair did not need any more stress even if I had invested a lot of time.
