Loons are very territorial and will not tolerate intruding loons during the nesting phase and early days after the chicks hatch. They will however, congregate in late summer/ early fall in large groups to socialize. On this day there were actually 7 loons together. It is odd to see after how fierce they are with each other earlier in the season.
