May

This past spring of 2020, I was delighted to find and photograph a family of Northern Flickers (Colaptes Auratus) over the course of the entire process of nest building, egg laying, chick feeding, and fledging. I hope to put together a video project with my footage and photos of this event. It was a wonder in my woods and a great opportunity during the COVID lockdown. For this shot, I learned that I could conceal myself in place under the nest while the Flicker mom was sitting on the egg, and then frame a shot through the surrounding foliage of her poking her head out when her mate made his cries. This year taught me not to overlook the little miracles all around us in daily life. I appreciate them all!
