Wait, sunset over the Atlantic on the East coast? Yes, its possible if you are on an island. Isle Au Haut is located 7 miles off the coast of Maine and accessible by boat only. I was treated to the magical sunset as the fog cleared just in time for great light to be revealed. Better yet, I had it all to myself. I went in mid May, during the first week where camping is allowed (only 5 legal camping spots on the whole island by advanced reservation permit only). You have to hike the 4.5 miles from the dropoff point this time of year, so you earn this moment!
